Berlin, 14. September 2022Two renowned IT security and administration experts are heading the newest subsidiary of Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH: Marcus Milas and Sven Kneutgen are continuing to build and expand Xecuro GmbH, which was founded in 2021. The company has been tasked by the Federal Foreign Office with operating the federal project of interdepartmental VS communication (R-VSK) as the lead department.

Xecuro GmbH – with locations in Berlin, Bonn and, in future, also in the Frankfurt a.M. area – provides a secure infrastructure for communicating classified information in public administration. The solution enables the confidential and secret transfer of voice, video and data files between ministries and authorities. The responsibility for operating the entire system and for rolling out the terminals will gradually be transferred to Xecuro in the coming months. Once the operations have been transferred to the company, previous project structures will be moved to a permanent organisational structure that will also handle future growth. Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH is the IT security company of the Federal Government and a strategic partner of the Federal Foreign Office.

Milas, a computer scientist, used to be Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Federal Criminal Police Office, among other things, and most recently headed the department of Administrative Digitalisation in the Hessian Digital Ministry. Kneutgen, an industrial engineer, headed the Systems Technologies division at engine manufacturer Deutz AG Cologne and was CIO at Rheinmetall Defence. “The management team with Marcus Milas and Sven Kneutgen combines proven and outstanding expertise in the areas of IT security and administration – a perfect mix for Xecuro’s responsible and socially relevant tasks”, says Dr Stefan Hofschen, CEO of Bundesdruckerei Gruppe GmbH. “Xecuro GmbH is an important part of national IT security and thus makes an important contribution to the safeguarding of Germany’s global communication capability and digital sovereignty.”

Selected federal – and, in future, state authorities and international – organisations will receive special telephones and computers from Xecuro so that they can communicate with each other while being protected by the latest cryptographic procedures. Xecuro will operate the infrastructure, look after the end devices and be responsible for the service. In the next two years, the new company is expected to grow to a staff of around 150 employees.
